UNION COUNTY — The Union County High School Sting Machine is looking forward to today’s (Saturday) competition at Byrnes High School after last Saturday’s strong performance in Laurens.

In a statement released Friday, UCHS Assistant Director Bands David J. Candler stated that the Sting Machine “competed at the Henry Laurens Invitational this past Saturday at Laurens District 55 High School. The band had a great performance being their first competition of the season.”

Candler stated that “in Class III the band placed 2nd overall out of 5 bands and 1st in music! Of the 24 bands competing that day our marching band placed 5th overall for the day against bands like Dorman and Boiling Springs. They placed 4th in music for the day and also received special awards like Best Logistics Team and Goofiest Band Director (awarded to head director Jeff Key).”

The competition continues for the Sting Machine which Candler said it traveling out of the county today (Saturday) to Byrnes High School to compete at 5 p.m.”

Candler urged the people of Union County to “come out and show your support for The Sting Machine and make sure to like the Facebook page or visit www.ucbands.org for the latest news.”
