A new month of sports action

UNION COUNTY — The first day of October is tomorrow and the new month will bring with it more middle school volleyball and football action as well as college softball.

Jonesville Volleyball

The next two weeks will be busy ones for the Jonesville Middle School Girls Volleyball Team who will face the following teams on the following dates:

• Monday, Oct. 2 at Landrum

• Thursday, Oct. 5 at Pacolet

• Monday, Oct. 9 hosting Lockhart

All the above games start at 4:30 p.m.

The Top 4 teams of each conference will make the playoff; cross bracket for tournament. Semi-finals will be played Saturday, Oct 14 at Cowpens; have to be concluded by Tuesday, Oct 17.

Sims Volleyball

The next two weeks will also be busy for the Sims Middle School Girls Volleyball Team who will face the following teams on the following dates:

• Monday, Oct. 2 hosting Rainbow Lake

• Wednesday, Oct. 4 at DR Hill

• Monday, Oct. 9 hosting Fairforest

• Wednesday, Oct. 11 hosting Dawkins

All the above games are played at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, the team will play in the Peachtree Conference Tournament. The location and time of the game has yet to be announced.

Jonesville Football

The Jonesville Middle School Football Team will play the following teams on the following dates in October:

• Thursday, Oct. 12 at EP Todd

• Thursday, Oct. 19 at Landrum

• Thursday, Oct. 26 at Pacolet

All games are scheduled to be played at 5 p.m.

Bantams 2017 Fall Schedule

Today, the last day of September, will be a busy one for the USC Union Bantams Softball Team which will be playing a double header (7 innings) against Patrick Henry Community College. The first game will be at 1 p.m. and the second at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, October 1,. the Lady Bantams will play another double header, this time against the Carolina Diamondbacks with the first game at 1 p.m. and the second at 3 p.m.

For the rest of October, the Lady Bantams’ schedule includes the following games on the following dates against the following teams:

• Saturday, October 7

Home — 4 Game Round Robin (7 innings or 1:40 time limit)

Game 1: 10:30 a.m. Full Count 16U vs. NC Pride

Game 2: 12:30 p.m. USC Union vs. Full Count 18U

Game 3: 2:30 p.m. USC Union vs. Full Count 16U

Game 4: 4:30 p.m. Full Count 18U vs. NC Pride

• Sunday, October 8

Home — Double Header (7 innings)

Game 1: 1 p.m. vs. SC Rage

Game 2: 3 p.m. vs. SC Rage

• Sunday, October 15

Columbia College — Double Header

Game 1: 1 p.m. vs. Columbia College

Game 2: 3 p.m. vs. Columbia College

• Sunday, October 21

Claflin University — Double Header

Game 1: 1 p.m. vs. Claflin

Game 2: 3 p.m. vs. Claflin
