ROCK HILL — The first UCI BMX World Championships to be held in the United States of America in nearly two decades comes to a close today.

The UCI BMX World Championships is an international competition of bike riders held each year in a different country. The competition was last held in the United States in 2001, but this week, 16 years after it was last held in this country, the championship returned to America.

The 2017 UCI BMX World Championships have been held this week in Rock Hill with competition taking place at the Norvant Health BMX Track. An opening ceremony for the championships was held last Saturday in the downtown of Rock Hill and at Fountain Park with live bands, amusement rides, international food trucks, and presentation of flags.

The competition, which drew more than 3,300 riders from more than 40 countries, then got under way Monday and will conclude today with activities scheduled to run throughout the day.

The schedule for the final day of competition includes:

9 a.m.-3 p.m.: Accreditation center open

9 a.m.-10:30 p.m.: Team area open — championships only.

10-10:45 a.m.: Training — Men Juniors.

10:45-11:30 a.m.: Training — Women Juniors and Women Elite.

11:30 a.m.-12.15 p.m.: Training — Men Elite — Group A.

12:15-1 p.m.: Training — Men Elite — Group B.

2:20-2:35 p.m.: Warm-up Men Juniors.

2:35-2:50 p.m.: Warm-up Women Juniors and Women Elite.

2:50-3:05 p.m.: Warm-up Men Elite — Group A.

3:05-3:20 p.m.: Warm-up Men Elite — Group B.

3:30-5:30 p.m.: UCI BMX World Championships Motos — Women Juniors (WJ), Men Juniors (MJ).

6:40-6:45 p.m.: Flag hand over to UCI BMX World Championships 2018 — Baku (AZE)

6:50-9 p.m.: UCI BMX World Championships Race 1/8 1/4 , 1/2 and finals MJ, WJ, WE, ME

9:05-9:30 p.m.: Prize Giving Ceremony — UCI BMX World Championships.
