Allstars win one, lose one

UNION COUNTY — The Union County Dixie Youth Allstars Baseball Team won one game and a lost a second one on Monday during the Dixie Youth State Tournament.

In their first game Monday afternoon, the Allstars faced off against Bluffton. During the game, Allstar Nate Smith homered twice, with one being a game winning grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Smith’s grand slam, the Allstarts defeated Bluffton 6-2.

Smith was honored for his grand slam by being presented the home run ball.

In their second game of the day, however, the Allstars didn’t fare as well, losing to Hartsville despite a three-run homer by Smith.

The competition continued for the Allstars on Tuesday as the State Tournament is double-elimination.
