UNION — An Open House and Job Fair held at the end of June at Heartland Healthcare of Union was a success and another will be held in September.

The three-hour Open House and Job Fair was held Tuesday, June 27 in the facility’s Assisted Living Unit drawing the participation of residents and their families, the general public, and business partners of Heartland Healthcare.

“We were pleased with the turnout,” Andrea Hines, Admissions and Marketing Director for Heartland Healthcare of Union, said. “We had members of the community as well as residents and family members attend.

“We had seven of our business partners take part,” she said. “We had Heartland Hospice, Kindred at Home (Gentiva), Home Instead Senior Care, Blue Ridge Hospice, Upstate Medical, LTC Health Solutions, and AmbuStar.”

Those businesses each had a table at the event providing information about the services they provide.

As part of the open house, Hines said tours were offered of the Assisted Living Unit and Heartland’s Rehabilitation Center.

The event also included a DJ and karaoke and Hines said WBCU did a live broadcast.

Hines said refreshments including hot dogs, chips, ice cream, cupcakes, shaved ice, and popcorn were served up. She said 20 door prizes were also awarded during the event.

As for the Job Fair itself, Hines said “several people completed applications and we were able to supply information on our free CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) classes.”

Hines said that the success of last week’s Open House and Job Fair means that another will be held, most likely in September.
