UNION COUNTY — Former Union High School football star Kyle Browning has always believed in giving back to the community. Browning, who was the starting running back on the 1999 and 2000 Yellow Jackets State Championship teams, will host his 2nd annual Black & Gold Football Camp for kids age 6-18 on Saturday, June 17 at Union County Stadium.
The camp will once again be headlined by many former college and professional football players and coaches from our area including: Rashaad Jackson (Clemson), Reggie Merriweather (Clemson), Airese Curry (Chicago Bears), Tye Hill (Rams), Ryan Hemby (Clemson), Leroy Hill (Seahawks), Lee Jolly (Clemson), Charles Brandon (Newberry), Jonas Scott (Catawba University), DJ Humphries SR (Presbyterian College), Justin Miller (Jets), Maurice Fountain (Seahawks), Ramon Robinson (Benedict College/CFL AFL), and others. Kids attending this one-day camp will get instruction from some the best players this area has seen. They will receive instruction at different positions on the football field from guys that played that position at the highest levels.
“God blessed me with the athletic ability and academic mindset to play a sport that I love all over the country and develop lifelong friends,” Browning said. Browning, who played for Clemson after graduating from Union High School in 2001 also added stated, “The camp is important to me because, with the help of the community, I am able to provide a worthy graduating senior with a $2,000 college scholarship.”
Last Year’s Scholarship winner was Alexis Garrett, who is currently on the track team at Troy University.
