UNION COUNTY — Four graduates of Union County Adult Education participated in in the 2017 Graduation Ceremony on May 23 at the Spartanburg Community College Union Campus. The graduates were Janine Juanitra Eison, Jasmine Elizabeth Simmons, Malik Liquwan Smith, and Kassandra Danielle Sumner.
Mrs. Betsy Trakas, Adult Education Director, gave the graduation address to the students on the “212 degree life.” She reminded them that like the difference between 211 degrees and the boiling point of 212 degrees, it only takes one more degree of effort to fulfill dreams and achieve goals.
Dr. William Roach, Superintendent of Union County Schools, reiterated that hard work pays off in his closing remarks to the students. In addition, he acknowledged a large family of one graduate all wearing tee shirts with the slogan, “She turned her cant’s into cans and her dreams into plans.”
Graduation concluded with the Turning of the Tassel Ceremony and the introduction of the Class of 2017.
Many family and community members joined the the faculty and staff of Union County Adult Education in congratulating these students on their achievement.
