UNION — The Union County High School Yellow Jacket Battalion held its thirteenth Annual Military Ball at the Union National Guard Armory on March 18.

Welcoming the cadets in the receiving line were C/1LT Blake Johnson, CSM (R) and Mrs. Doug Gilliam; Guest Speaker Miss Ollie Burns and her guest, Christian Bravo; Superintendent Dr. and Mrs. William Roach; Col. (R) and Mrs. Bill Goodwin; and Cadet Battalion Commander C/LTC Kolby Riddle and his guest, Miss Hailey Sherbert.

C/1LT Blake Johnson served as master of ceremony for the evening. Other cadets participating in the program included C/LTC Kolby Riddle playing Mess call on the trumpet; C/CPL Bryan Good providing the Invocation; C/PFC Katie Wagner singing the National Anthem; and C/PVT Dalen McMunn leading the Cadet Creed. The Color Guard was commanded by C/FSG Dimitri Dean and consisted of C/1LT Dillon Earls, C/MSG Matthew Roberts, and C/SFC Michael Phillips.

The guest speaker, Miss Ollie Burns, was a cadet in the Yellow Jacket Battalion all four years of high school. She was the Battalion Commander her senior year. She is now a senior at Clemson University and graduates in May.

Following a delicious dinner catered by Midway and served by a large group of supportive parents, the cadets and their guests danced the night away. The evening concluded with the singing “God Bless the U.S.A.” by C/PFC Katie Wagner. C/CPL Bryan Good offered the benediction.
