Dixie Youth/Dixie Boys Secretary Kelly Small reported that Tommy Ford attended the District 2 meeting on April 26. Small said that at that meeting, area baseball leagues were awarded All Stars Tournaments for the summer of 2017. She also announced the following schedule for the District 2 Post Season All Stars Tournaments and host locations.
• AA Machine Pitch for 7 & 8 year olds — Union County Dixie Youth will host at the Timken Sports Complex beginning on Saturday, June 24.
• AAA Minor League for 9 & 10 year olds — Gaffney Dixie Youth will host a Midway Park beginning Saturday, June 24.
• O’Zone League for 11& 12 year olds — Lewisville Dixie Youth will host beginning on Saturday, June 24.
“We are so excited to have been awarded the Machine Pitch District 2 Tournament for 2017,” Small said. “We have not hosted this tournament since the summer of 2013 when we first added the Machine Pitch League to our local organization. Playing at home is such an awesome advantage for our team, not to mention the great crowds who show up in support of our team.
“We are confident that our post season All Stars teams will represent Union County very well in all age groups in competition as well as sportsmanship,” she said. “We look forward to an exciting 2017 summer of baseball.”
