Dixie Youth season under way


A total of 32 teams took to the field Saturday

The teams took to the field at Timken to start the Dixie Youth Baseball Season which continues this week with games on Thursday and Friday.


UNION COUNTY — A total of 32 teams took to the field at the Timken Sports Complex this past Saturday for the start of the Union County Dixie Youth Baseball Season.

Dixie Youth/Dixie Boys Secretary Kelly Small said Monday that the season got off to a great start with games played by all 32 teams in the Tee Ball, Machine Pitch Juniors, Machine Pitch Seniors, Minor, and Ozone leagues. These are the results of those games:

Tee Ball

(Ages 3 & 4)

• Charlie’s Auto Sales played Founders Federal Credit Union

• Backdraft Customs played Buffalo Pawn Shop

• DeHart’s NAPA played Sonoco Plastics

Machine Pitch Juniors

(Ages 5 & 6)

• El Poblano Mexican Restaurant played La Fogata Mexican Restaurant

• P&C Mechanical played Founders Federal Credit Union

• Metal Crafters played Union County Police Club

• USC-Union played GESTAMP

(Note: Small said that score is not kept for the Tee Ball and Machine Pitch Juniors games.)

Machine Pitch Seniors

(Ages 7s & 8)

• New Horizon Realty defeated D&S Land Surveying 12-2

• Founders Federal Credit Union defeated Frank Hart’s Allstate Insurance 3-1

• Affordable Title Loans defeated Timken Company 5-4

• New Horizon Realty defeated Ashley Turner’s State Farm Insurance 12-6

Minor League

(Ages 9 & 10)

• Jimmy’s Fresh Air Galaxy defeated Humphries Sheet Metal 8-0

• Kingsmore Construction defeated Edwards Tax Service 8-0

• Rotary Club defeated Kendall Austin’s Roofing & Construction 14-7

• Jimmy’s Fresh Air Galaxy defeated Founders Federal Credit Union 10-0

O’Zone League

(Ages 11 & 12)

• Crisp & Son’s Custom Screen Printing defeated the Lions Club 9-5

• Union NCO Club defeated Brown’s Roofing 10-9

Small said the presence of all 32 teams and their performance on the opening day of the season made for a great day. She added that four Dixie Boys teams will be added this month, increasing the opportunities for the people of Union County to enjoy plenty of great baseball action during the season.
