So today we are publishing more photos from South Carolina Day! at Buffalo Elementary School.

BUFFALO — South Carolina was the subject of a very special day of celebration at Buffalo Elementary School earlier this month.

In a statement released Tuesday, March 21, Buffalo Elementary School announced that on Thursday, March 16, it had “some very exciting things happening for the students and staff.” The occasion was the celebration of the school’s first “South Carolina Day!” The celebration included presentations by some very special visitors to the school that day.

“Cleveland and Betty Jackson stopped by to do a short lesson with the students on fruits, vegetables and farming in South Carolina,” the press release states. “Ashley Dill and the agriculture students from Union County High came to talk to the students about the wonderful Agriculture program at their school.

“Bill Morosco, Assistant Coach from Presbyterian College, brought two college basketball players to meet the students,” it states. “Ola Jean Kelly and other volunteers from the Union County Museum came to school in 17th and 18th century attire to tell the students historical stories from our city and state.”

In addition to the programs presented by these special visitors, the press release states “the students also did some fun activities in their classroom to celebrate South Carolina Day! The cafeteria staff even prepared a South Carolina meal for their students and staff. They had peaches, okra, barbeque and collard greens!”

Sounds like everybody had a good time and are no doubt looking forward to next year’s South Carolina Day!
