UNION — It’s spring and that’s means its time for tea, for the annual “Mommy & Me Tea Party” at the Union County Arts Council Art Gallery.

In a statement released earlier this month about upcoming events at the UCAC’s Art Gallery, UCAC Director Amber Ivey said that this year’s Mommy and Me Tea Party will be held Saturday, May 6 from 3-5 p.m. Ivey described the event as “an afternoon of tea, cookies, and creativity” during which mothers and daughters will spend the afternoon together creating their own works of art. She said the event will be catered by Kirby’s Cake Shoppe.

The event is $25 per mother and daughter for members and $30 per mother and daughter for non-members. For each guest in addition to the mother and daughter a $10 fee will be charged. Space is limited and so those interested in participating are urged to reserve their spot as soon as possible.

Reservations made be made by calling 864-429-2817.

Chalk Walk

Before mothers and daughters gather for tea and art at the UCAC in May, they and other artistically inclined members of the community will want to help turn Main Street into an artist’s studio/art gallery during the 2017 Chalk Walk on Saturday, April 15 from 9-11 a.m.

A flier issued by the UCAC advertising the event states that “art is the theme and chalk is the medium” for the Chalk Walk.

It states that the UCAC invites “children, teenagers, and adults to join us on Main Street as we paint downtown! You will have up to two hours to complete your artwork. UCAC will provide you with a section of sidewalk and all the chalk you will need!”

The flier further states that the UCAC “will provide the same amount of supplies to each artist. You may bring sketches, stencils, brushes, ect. to use, but no outside chalk will be allowed.”

It further states “we want everyone to participate in the event! Children, adults, Girl & Boy Scout troops, church groups, professionals and beginners! There’s a spot for everyone!”

A panel of judges will review the work of each artist and select winners in different age categories.

The event is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

For more information and/or to register for Chalk Walk call UCAC Director Amber Ivey at 864-429-2817.
