BUFFALO —A local church will hold a Free Baseball Clinic designed to not only teach children how to play baseball but also how to handle themselves in both victory and defeat.
The Free Baseball Clinic will be held Saturday, March 25 at the Dixie Youth Fields beside Buffalo Elementary School. It will be for children ages 3-12 who will be divided into three age groups with each group on a separate field. The groups and the fields are:
• Tee Ball (Field 1)
• Machine Pitch (Field 2)
• Player Pitch (Field 3)
Registration will be from 9:30-10 a.m. the day of the clinic which will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m.
The clinic is being presented by West Springs Baptist Church (www.westspringsbaptist.org), 4811 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Pauline.
A flier issued by the church about the event states that “this camp is designed to be both instructional and fun for all players involved. We want to teach them not only how to play the game but how to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We want them to learn about sportsmanship and how to conduct themselves throughout the course of competition. Parents are encouraged to observe all drills and activities and to utilize them during your instructional time at home with your athletes.”
The flier states that instruction at the clinic will be provided by “current and former Union County baseball standouts” and “current and former Union County Dixie Youth coaches.”
If further states that “bats and balls will be provided, but please bring hat, glove, cleats, personal bats and any other equipment you would like to use.”
