Sisters to compete in pageants

UNION — Two sisters from Union have been selected to compete in the 2017 Miss Teen and Miss Jr. Teen pageants.

In statements released earlier this month, the Miss Teen and Miss Jr. Teen pageants announced that Gabrielle Prossi had been selected to compete in the 2017 Miss Teen pageant and that Kaitlynne Prossi had been selected to compete in the Miss Jr. Teen pageant. The pageants will be held Sunday, March 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the McGirt Auditorium in Rock Hill. The press releases state that the sisters, both of whom are from Union, learned of their acceptance into this year’s competitions when the pageants announced their its selections following interviews in the local area. It further states that the sisters each submitted an application and took part in interview sessions conducted by this year’s Pageant Coordinator.

The press release states that of the four age divisions including young ladies ages 7-20, Gabrielle will compete in the Miss Teen division while Kaitlynne will compete in the Miss Jr. Teen division. It further states that in each of these divisions, contestants compete in modeling routines including casual wear and formal wear. It also states that the sisters will display her personalities while interviewing with this year’s judging panel. In each phase of the competition, the panel uses personality as the number one criteria for judging.

If Gabrielle and Kaitlynne win the titles of Miss Teen and Miss Jr. Teen, respectively, they represent their community at the National Pageant taking place in Orlando, Florida. Each winner receives an expense paid trip to Orland for six days and five nights. At the National Competition, contestants from around the nation compete for their share of over $30,000 in prizes.

The press release states that community businesses, organizations, and private individuals will assist Harris in participating in this year’s competition by becoming an official sponsor for her. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals, and financial support which will allow Gabrielle and Kaitlynne the confidence and preparation for this year’s Preliminary Pageant.
