LOCKHART — Residents of the Town of Lockhart will go to the polls Tuesday, March 7 for the town’s municipal election but for those who won’t be there to do so that day they can still cast their ballots by voting absentee on Monday.
The ballot for Tuesday’s election includes the Office of Mayor and two seats on the Lockhart Town Council.
Running for mayor is incumbent Ailene Ashe and challenger Ray Duncan.
Three candidates, none of them incumbents, are running for the two council seats. The candidates are Stephanie Duncan, Wanda Stein, and Mallory Thomas.
Voting will be held at the Lockhart Town Hall from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
While the polls don’t open until Tuesday, Lockhart residents who will be unable to cast their ballots that day may instead vote absentee at the Union County Voter Registrar’s Office, 1246 South Duncan Bypass, Union.
Absentee voting for the Lockhart municipal elections is now open and Union County Voter Registrar Darlene Pettit said that Lockhart residents may vote absentee at her office on Monday during office hours from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Persons who choose to vote absentee must bring with them one of the following forms of photo identification in order to cast their ballot:
• S.C. Driver’s License
• ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
• S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
• Federal Military ID
• U.S. Passport
In addition to possessing the proper photographic identification, persons wanting to vote absentee in the Lockhart municipal election must also live within the town’s municipal limits.
