Photography Exhibition continues thru Tuesday

UNION — Those who attended Thursday’s reception at the Union County Arts Council Art Gallery honoring local photographers featured in the 2017 Photography Exhibition got to meet the photographers themselves while enjoying their work.

The 2017 Photography Exhibition features approximately 30 works by local photographers Scott Sherbert, Claude Hicks, Steve Broadbent, Randi Breland, Amy Griffith, and Everett Leigh. Those works include photographs of sunsets, forests, seashores, horses, sculpture, local landmarks and landmarks in other communities, all on display at the UCAC Art Gallery on Main Street in downtown Union through Tuesday, Feb. 28.

A reception honoring the photographers featured in the Exhibition was held Thursday evening at the Art Gallery. Those who attended got to not only enjoy the refreshments served and the photos on display, but also to meet the photographers and chat with them about their work.

“It went really well,” UCAC Coordinator Amber Ivey said Friday morning. “We had around 30 people here.”

March At The UCAC

Thursday’s reception and the 2017 Photography Exhibition are among the many activities and events hosted by the UCAC at the Art Gallery throughout the year.

In March, those activities and events include the following:

• Painting with Coffee — Whether you are a beginner, or a lifelong artists join us every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

• Jam at Lunch — Do you have lunch plans? Join us Thursday, March 2 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Enjoy the musical talents of local members of our community. Do you sing? Play? Feel free to join in!

• Writers Group — Local Writers will meet Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. This is open to everyone.

• Monday Night Music — Looking for something new to do? Join us March 20 at 6:30 p.m. for a night full of local, musical talent.

• Toddler Time — Friday, March 24 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. & 12:30-1:30 p.m. will be all about the little ones! Any child 4 years old or younger is invited to join us. $10.

• Mini Monet — Join us on Saturday, March 18 for a morning full of secret creativity! We will be making secret book safes! Kindergarten-5th Grade. $15 members/ $20 nonmembers.

• 2017 Wine Tasting — Join us on Friday, March 10 for the 2017 Wine Tasting. The Cat’s Paw Winery will be supplying our wine while Bob Love, this year’s Sommelier, will provide us with all the information. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the UCAC or from any board member. Tastings will be held at 5:30 and 7:30. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR

• 2017 Elementary Youth Art Show Reception — UCAC will honor Union County’s talented elementary school students with a reception on March 23 starting at 5:30 p.m. The UCAC gallery will be filled with over 50 pieces of artwork created by students, kindergarten to 5th grade. We invite everyone to join us. Refreshments will be served.
