Local photographers to be honored Thursday

UNION — Their subjects range from sunsets to forest sto seashores to horses to landmarks and streets scenes in other communities and they and their works will be honored this Thursday with a reception at the Union County Arts Council Art Gallery on Main Street in downtown Union.

They are the local photographers whose works make up the 2017 Photography Exhibition currently on display in the Art Gallery.

“It features six photographers, all of them from the Union area,” UCAC Director Amber Ivey said. “This is a showcase that will allow Union County to see some of the very talented photographers we have here.”

The photographers whose work is on display are:

• Scott Sherbert

• Claude Hicks

• Steve Broadbent

• Randi Breland

• Amy Griffith

• Everett Leigh

Approximately 30 works of these photographers are on display as part of the exhibit. The works are available for sale.

The 2017 Photography Exhibition continues through Tuesday, Feb. 28, but a closing reception will be held in honor of the photographers this Thursday from 6-7 p.m. The reception, which will be held at the Art Gallery, will give the public the opportunity to meet the photographers and view their work. Refreshments will be served.

Other Activities

The 2017 Photography Exhibition is one of the artistic activities being offered by the UCAC this month at the Art Gallery. Also being offered this month are:

• Painting with Coffee — Whether you are a beginner, or a lifelong artists join us every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

• Toddler Time — Friday, Feb. 24, 10:30-11:30 a.m. will be all about the little ones! Any child 4 years old or younger is invited to join us! $10.
