The Children’s Security Blanket is a Spartanburg-based non-profit that has been serving local families affected by childhood cancer for the past 15 years. The organization provides a wide range of assistance for struggling families including making travel arrangements to healthcare facilities and providing funds for transportation, lodging, and meals while the children receive critical medical treatments. The organization, whose service area extends throughout South Carolina and portions of North Carolina, also offers tremendous emotional support, special events and other resources that enrich the lives of the children, parents and siblings.

“So many in our community are faced with the often unbearable reality every day, of caring for a child with cancer and doing everything possible, including making tremendous sacrifices, to ensure they get the care they need,” explained Laura Allen, executive director of The Children’s Security Blanket. “What we do at The Children’s Security Blanket is offer encouragement and support to these families and alleviate as much other stress in their lives as possible…like financial burdens. This makes it possible for parents to spend their time and energy on helping their child cope, gain strength and feel loved.”
