The Braves’ struggles with the Pirates led to their third consecutive loss and loss of their National League East lead.

The Braves were knocked out of first place Tuesday for the first time since May 30.

Atlanta’s offensive woes continued when the Pirates defeated the Braves Tuesday 5-0.

Braves’ ace Tim Hudson (15-7) surrendered four runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings of work and took the loss.

Atlanta’s slump, unfortunately, compliments the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies’ wins vs. the Florida Marlins.

The Phillies hold a one-half game divisional lead over the Braves. The Braves have 12 days before they travel for a midweek series in the City of Brotherly Love.

Braves’ Derek Lowe will take the mound tonight for the series’ final game at Pittsburgh. Lowe missed his last start due to pain from bone chips in his elbow.

Note: Atlanta stranded 17 runners in its last two games.
