Broome came out in the second half and scored 17 unanswered points to capture the lead and claimed its second victory of the season.
Union County’s offense seemed to move backwards in the second half as penalties and turnovers crushed the Jackets halftime lead.
On the Jackets’ first second-half possession, Broome intercepted Keiston Smith’s pass and a personal foul put the ball on the Union 13. Broome would only get three points on the 22-yard field goal, but the Centurions owned the game from that point on.
On Union County’s first possession in the fourth quarter, the Jackets laid the ball on the ground and Broome recovered. Less than two minutes later, Broome scored twice and took a 20-13 lead.

Broome started the game with a nine-play, 55-yard scoring drive and took an early 3-0 lead.
Union County’s offense sputtered on its first possession, but the Yellow Jackets Rickey Rice fired up his team with an interception return to Broome’s 17-yard line.
The Jackets made the Centurions pay for the turnover. Union County converted on fourth down and three plays later Smith found Victor Ruth for a 3-yard touchdown. Brandon Shetley’s PAT gave the Jackets a 7-3 advantage.
Shetley’s pooch kick was recovered by the Jackets and Union County’s offense took over again with great field position.
Five plays later, Ruth came in motion, took the hand-off, cut left across the field and sprinted into the end zone for the 13-3 lead. Shetley’s PAT was no good.
Union County’s special teams came up with another big recovery as Robert Littlejohn came out of the pile with the ball.
The Jackets were forced to punt on their next possession and, once again, the special teams came up big as Union County’s Deon Smith recovered Jordan Sims’ blocked punt on the Broome 6. On third and goal, Smith threw an interception and Broome returned the ball to midfield.
Seven plays later, the Jackets sniffed out the screen pass and forced a turnover on downs. The Jackets gained momentum and took it in to the half.
