The incident report filed with the Jonesville Police Department states an officer spoke with the woman Aug. 17 in reference to a phone call she received from a man who said he was from Kingston, Jamaica. The man claimed the woman had won a car and a large amount of money. The only thing she had to do was go to a store in Union and wire him $375. Someone would then meet her with a check and the car.
While she had no intention of sending him any money, the woman said she took down the information the caller gave her. She then turned the information, including the man’s name, phone number and address where she was to send the money over to police. The woman said she also received calls from two other strange numbers but did not answer them. She turned those numbers over to the police as well.
Chief Jimmy Kimbrell said the matter is still under investigation. Kimbrell said people should follow this woman’s example and not send money but call the police.
DUI, Possession Of A Controlled Substance
The combination of allegedly weaving along the road, failing to stop for a stop sign and nearly falling off a motorcycle helped land a Union man in jail on drug and alcohol-related charges.
Alexander D. Sadosky, 53, 117 E. Academy St., Union, is charged by the Jonesville Police Department with driving under the influence and possesssion of a controlled substance.
The incident report states an officer was on Forest Street near the intersection with Oak Ridge Road around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 when he observed a motorcycle traveling east on Forest Street. The motorcyle was weaving and its right turn signal was on. The officer followed the motorcycle which continued to weave and while it slowed it did not stop for the stop sign at the South Main Street intersection. In turning, the report states the motorcycle was weaving badly and the driver almost fell off.
The officer then initiated a traffic stop using his blue lights and then approached the driver, — later identified as Sadosky — asking him for his driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. Sadosky retrieved paperwork from underneath the motorcycle seat but, according to the report, had trouble unlocking it. He told the officer he did not have a SC driver’s license.
The report states Sadosky had a strong odor of alcohol about his person and breath. While talking to the officer, the report states Sadosky said he drank several beers during the day and had been to a motorcycle event.
Sadosky was advise of his rights and asked to submit to several sobriety tests that were videotaped. The report states he tried to walk heel to toe and lost his balance. He was able to recite the alphabet but failed the horizontal gaze test.
After being placed under arrest for driving under the influence and handcuffed, the report states Sadosky was searched and nine blue pills were found in a metal container in his right pocket. The report states Sadosky said the pills were Xanex.
Sadosky was then transorted to the Union County Jail for a Datamaster test which he refused.
