Yellow Jackets’ Kelsey Harris (above) won the #2 singles match vs. Laurens Wednesday night. Rachel Jones (below) and Dexlie Inman won doubles play in the Highway 221 Eye-Opener Tournament.

Union County won its first-round match in the Highway 221 Eye-Opener Wednesday night 6-1 vs. Laurens.

In singles action:

• Lauren Harrison won 6-2, 6-1 over Becca Sturgeon

• Kelsey Harris won 6-4, 6-0 over Amanda Dominick

• Kristen Martin won 6-0, 6-2 over Rebecca Corley

• Brittany Ledford lost her match to Sara Kaln Croker 5-7, 6-2, 3-10

• Logan Wade won 6-2, 6-1 over Britney Horner

Doubles play

Harrison and Harris won 8-4 over Sturgeon and Dominick

Rachel Jones and Dexlie Inman won 6-3, 6-2 over Whitney Babb and Ellen Yound

Adalaide Adamo won her JV match 8-1.

The Jackets will travel to Woodruff for second-round tournament play. Union County will play the winner of Woodruff/Southside Christian on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Woodruff.
