James Stanley Holmes Jr., 18, 205 Lawson Ave., Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school.
The incident report states officers were dispatched Friday night to West Henrietta Street and South Pinckney Street in reference to shots being fired. The officers saw 5-8 black males on South Pinckney Street. Dispatch told the officers the males who were shooting were wearing white T-shirts. An officer peformed a terry frisk on a black male in a white T-shirt. The male, later identified as Holmes, said he did not have anything on him and started pulling items out of his pants.
A pat down was performed on Holmes and when the officer reached his left front pocket he felt a hand-sized ball of what he believed was marijuana. The officer then asked Holmes what was in his pocket and was told money. Holmes then said he would show it to the officer but instead pulled away and ran between a store and a house and then behind some apartments and across South Pinckney Street. The officer pursued Holmes who then ran back the way he came from a South Church Street residence and then down the street. Holmes stopped two houses down and was taken into custody by the officers
The report states the officers walked to the area where Holmes ran and found a bag of a green plant-like substance lying on top of trash bags in a trash can.
Holmes was transported to jail where jailers found $240 in cash and a cigarette on him with a green plant-like substance in it. The report states the bag officers recovered from the trash can had 16 other bags of a green plant-like substance in it.
Burglary
A Union man is facing charges in connection with incidents that occurred in May and July.
Darrius Marquis Gray, 20, 107 Ravenscroft St., Union, is charged by the public safety department with disorderly conduct, burglary second-degree and possession of tools/implements used in a crime.
The warrant for Gray's arrest for disorderly conduct states that on May 10 he became loud and boisterous attempting to engage in a fight with and cursing and shouting at another person during an incident at 120 N. Boyce St., Union. The warrant for his arrest for burglary second-degree states that on July 20 he climbed the fence at a business at 725 S. Duncan Bypass and attempted to pry open the rear door and side window after attempting to disable the power meter. The warrant for possession of tools/implements used in a crime states he possessed a pry bar while attempting to get into the busniess on July 20.
Gray was taken into custody Saturday night.
Shoplifting
A woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to shoplift clothing while babysitting three children.
Shanita Maria Pressley, 25, 110 Park Drive, Union, is charged by the public safety department with shoplifting.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched Sunday afternoon to a business at 513 N. Duncan Bypass in reference to a shoplifter. The officer was met by the store's loss prevention officer who said he observed a black female, later identified as Pressley, go to the clothing section of the store, select clothing from the racks and conceal the items in two empty purses in her possession. The loss prevention officer said Pressley attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. He confronted her and advised her to come to the loss prevention office and await the arrival of law enforcement.
Advised of her rights by the public safety officer, Pressely agreed to talk about the incident and admitted she took the items and it was a foolish mistake on her part. The report states Pressley didn't have any money on her at the time of the incident but did have three children with her she was babysitting. The officer called the childrens mother who allowed them to be taken by another woman to their grandmother's home in Buffalo.
The officer then placed Pressley under arrest and transported her to jail. The items she is accused of shoplifting had a combined value of $148.22. They could not be resold by the store.

Shopliting
A pack of Starburst and a candy bar were the targets of a teenage shoplifter Sunday night. The incident report states the theft occurred just around 11 p.m. at a convenience store at 803 S. Pinckney St., Union. The manager said a black male approximately 16-18 years of age put the items in his pants pockets and ran out of the store without paying for them. The shoplifter, who ran toward Chambertown, was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts with blue stripes and stood approximately 5'7”. The items taken had a combined value of $3.
Another Shoplifting
A pack of Silly Bands and some other items with a combined value of $3 were the target of a shoplifter at a convenience store at 908 S. Duncan Bypass, Union, Monday morning. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. when the shoplifter, described as a white female approximately 27 years of age wearing a red tank top and black sweat pants carried the items out of the store in her hand without paying for them. The manager said the woman left the store parking lot traveling south in a silver Honday SUV. The items she took had a combnied value of $2.99.
Yet Another Shoplifting
Alcohol was the target of a shoplifter who walked into a grocery store at 323 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, on Friday night and walked out with two cases of Bud Light beer. The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. when the shoplifter, described as a black male, walked in the store, picked up the $60 worth of beer and then left without paying for it. The male was last seen running down Rice Avenue Extension before running behind the store.
Vehicle Damaged
A man leaving his apartment Sunday evening got an unpleasant surprise when he discovered someone had cut the radio antenna off his 1992 Honda while it was parked at 1111 Lakeside Drive, Union. The damage, which was estimated at $100, was done sometime before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Another Vehicle Damaged
Urine and feces were apparently among the weapons of choice of the vandal(s) who caused $110 worth of damage to a woman's car and front door late Saturday night.
The incident report states an oficer was dispatched to 1111 Lakeside Drive in reference to an act of vandalism. The victim said someone had vandalized her car and the front door of her home. The report states the officer observed liquid that had been splashed from the top to the bottom of the door smelled like urine. He also observed the same type of liquid on the hood of the victim's 1997 Honda Civic. The officer also observed what appeared to be dog feces beneath the driver's side door handle.
The victim also pointed out scratches along the edge of the roof of the vehicle that hadn't been there prior to the incident. She said she'd heard a knock at her front door at approximately 10 p.m. but when she went to the door and asked who was there received no answer. She then went back upstairs and looked out her window. While she didn't see anyone near her car, she did see a crowd standing in the parking lot below her apartment building. The woman said she noticed the damage to her car around 11 p.m.
Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $100 and $10 to the storm door.
Burglary
An air conditioner and a meter box were the targets of a burglar or burglars last week.
A thief or group of thieves made off with a window air conditioner from a residence at 102 Knuckles St., Union, sometime between 3 p.m. Aug. 18 and 9:20 a.m. Saturday. The victim said he was in the process of moving and he went to get his Frigidaire 12000 BTU air conditioner (Model # FAC124P1A) and noticed it was missing. He said a power meter box next to the house was also missing. The items have a combined value of $550.

Logging Truck Stolen
He parked it as he did every night, but on Thursday morning a Union man got an unpleasant surprise when he discovered his logging truck had been stolen.
The incident report filed with the Union County Sheriff's Office states the truck was stolen sometime between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 5:20 a.m. Thursday. The victim said he parked the truck next to his store at 2549 Santuc-Carlisle Highway, Union, as he did every night but the next morning it was gone. He said he didn't think anyone from Union would have stolen the vehicle, that it was probably someone from out of state though he doesn't know who did it or why they did.
The trailer is a red 2006 Big John with a permanent tag of PT98099. The report states the trailer is worth $20,000.
Gas Drive Off
The sheriff's office is investigating an incident Thursday night in which persons in a gray four-door Toyota Camry drove off from a convenience store at 5409 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway, Lockhart, without paying for $12 worth of gas. The complainant said she could not see the persons in the car but that they drove toward Lockhart when they pulled out of the parking lot.
Mailbox Vandalized
The sheriff's office is also investigating an incident in which a mailbox at 1113 Old Ferry Road, Union, was damaged. The damage is believed to have occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and just after 6 p.m. Wednesday. The victim said it would cost $10 to replace the mailbox.

Phillip Maurice Lawson, 26, 149 Porter Road, Union, charged Saturday with disorderly conduct/public drunk.
