Ricky Joshua “Rilo” Allison, 29, of 737 Webber Lake Road, passed away at Wallace Thomson Hospital shortly after being transported there by Union County EMS following an accident where the motorcylce he was driving collided with a tree about four miles west of Jonesville on Gist Bridge Road.
According to Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Allison was traveling west on Gist Bridge Road around 7:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, believed to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour, when the 2003 Suzuki 1300 Hayabusa motorcycle he was driving crossed the center line, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
Robinson said weather conditions were clear and speed could have been a factor in the accident. There were no passengers involved and Allison was not wearing a helmet.
The accident is still under investigation by the highway patrol.
Allison is the husband of Brandy Moore Allison and the son of Ricky Gene Allison of Gaffney and the late Linda Gail Horne Allison. He attended Union High School and was employed as a truck driver.
