Guilty pleas heard in General Sessions Court

The following persons pleaded guilty before Judge Lee S. Alford of York in General Sessions Court this past week:

Kenneth Brandon, 611 Pineland Road, Union, tried by jury and found guilty of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, five years suspended upon two years, five years probation, restitution of $1,454 and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund.

Christopher Gist, 54 Hamm St., Union, to theft of a controlled substance, one year suspended upon two years probation; to possession of a pistol under age 18, Youth Offenders Act not to exceed one year, suspended upon time served and two years probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund; sentences to run concurrently.

Marcus Davis, 454 Joe Walker Road, Union, to possession of cocaine first offense, three years suspended upon 90 days, one year probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund; to resisting arrest, one year suspended upon 90 days and one year probation; sentences to run concurrently.

Steven Floyd, 1364 Sulfur Springs Road, Jonesville, to manufacturing marijuana first offense, three years suspended upon time served and two years probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund.

Julius Good, 3209 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Buffalo, to trafficking crack cocaine second offense, nine years.

Jaran Harris, 443 Whitlock Lake Road Road, Jonesville, to assault with intent to kill, one year; to resisting arrest, one year; sentences to run concurrently.

Loree Little, 270 Oakland Road, Union, to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine first offense, three years suspended upon two years probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund; to possession of marijuana second offense, 30 days suspended upon two years probation; sentences to run concurrently.

Cody Lynch, 1111 Grove St., Jonesville, to possession of a gun by a person convicted of a violent crime, one year concurrent to probation revocation.

Thomas Whitener, 107 Crestview Drive, Union, to leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, one year suspended upon 90 days, five years probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund; to driving under the influence second offense, one year and $2,100 suspended upon 90 days, $1,100 and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund; to driving under suspension second offense, 60 days; sentences to run concurrently.

Antonio Wofford, 260 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, to trafficking cocaine second offense, five years.

Ray Wright, 144 Bell St., Chester, to assault and battery of high and aggravated nature, two years suspended upon time served, five years probation and $500 paid to the Public Defenders Fund.

Kenneth Wynn, 127 Grant Road, Union, to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, one year consecutive to sentence currently being serve, 35 days credit for time served.

these sentences are a joke...If REAL punishment was administrated, these ppl would think twice about their actions...these petty fines are pocket change for these ppl and are simply just a slap in the wrist that allows them to get back on the streets quickly so they can continue...they are laughing at our justice system...I'd be laughing to if it wasn't so pathetic!
