Eric Shorenzo Walton, 33, 617 Lakeview Heights, Union, is charged with disorderly conduct and criminal domestic violence by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident report states officers were dispatched the night of Aug. 6 to 211 May St., Union, in reference to a disturbance. The victim was on the front porch and attempting to tell the officers what had happened before they arrived. While she was talking to the officers, the report states Walton was in the roadway cursing and being very loud and unruly. Officers asked him twice to calm down. When an officer again tried to get the victim’s statement, the report states Walton began to curse and yell at her again. He was then arrested for disorderly conduct.
The victim said that she and Walton had been in a dispute all day and she went to 211 May St. to get away from him. She said he showed up there, knocked on the door and when it was answered asked for her. The woman said when she came to the door Walton grabbed her by the throat, pulled her out the door and threw her down against a porch railing
The report states a witness told police Walton choked the victim and threw her down on the porch. The victim told officers she did not need medical attention. They issued her a victim’s rights form and then transported Walton to jail.
Assault And Battery
Two women who wanted each other charged following a fight got what they asked for.
Yvonne Means Dawkins, 41, 121 Barnado Road, Apt. 17, Union, and Ladie Michelle Means, 144 E. Lee St., Union, are each charged by the public safety department with assault and battery.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched Saturday afternoon to 142 E. Lee St., Union, in reference to an argument. The officer spoke first with Dawkins who stated she and Means got into an argument which turned physical. She told the officer, who the report states, observed scratches on her neck, She wanted Means charged.
The officer then spoke with Means who said she did get into an argument with Dawkins. She said Dawkins started swinging at her and that’s when the argument turned physical. She said she wanted Dawkins charged.
The report states a witness questioned about the incident said the two women got into a physical altercation and he had to get between them before they would stop. The officer then charged both women with assault and battery.
Burglary
A Union man is facing charges after alledgely breaking into a house earlier this month.
Michael Jason Linder, 18, 208 Lakeview Heights, Union, is charged by the public safety department with petit larceny and burglary first-degree.
The warrants for Linder’s arrest state that on Aug. 4 he, along with a 16-year-old male juvenile, entered a residence at 301 Stuff Av. and stole items with a total value of less than $2,000.
Shoplifting
A man who allegedly tried to take clothes from a store by wearing them out of the building without paying for them didn’t get very far with his new wardrobe.
Christopher Lynn Bradburn, 18, 1135 Reed Ave., Whitmire, is charged by the public safety department with shoplifting.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched Friday to a business at 513 N. Duncan Bypass in reference to a shoplifter. The store’s loss prevention officer said he spotted a man later identified as Bradburn go to the clothing section and select a shirt and a pair of pants. He said he then saw Bradburn take the tags off the clothing and exit the store through the garden center. Bradburn was stopped outside the store and taken back inside to await the arrival of law enforcement.
After being read his rights, the report states Bradburn agreed to talk to the officer about the incident. Bradburn said he selected the clothing, walked to another aisle and took off the tags. He then put the shirt on over the shirt he was wearing and changed pants while no one was looking. Bradburn said he then left the building without paying for the clothes but was stopped by the loss prevention officer and brought back inside.
Bradburn was then arrested and transported to jail. The clothes, which had a combined value of $24, could not be resold by the store.
Possession Of Controlled Substance
Sitting alone in a car in a parking lot in the wee hours of the morning can lead to trouble, especially if the police find drugs in your car.
Angela Danielle Gregory, 25, 2028 Jonesville Highway, Union, is charged by the public safety department with possession of a controlled substance.
The incident report states an officer on patrol around 3:30 a.m. Sunday saw a white car sitting in a parking lot at 112 N. Duncan Bypass. He found a white female in the vehicle and asked her for idenfication. The woman was identified as Gregory who told the officer she was waiting on a friend.
The report states the officer noticed Gregory’s eyes were bloodshot and she was having trouble keeping them open. The officer asked Gregory if she had been drinking and she said no. He asked her if she was on any medication and she again said no.
At this point a sheriff’s deputy arrived to assist the officer. The officer went to his patrol vehicle to run Gregory’s driver license and check for any warrants for her. Gregory got out of her car and the deputy started talking to her. He asked her for consent to search her car and she granted it.
In the course of his search, the deputy found an unopened can of an alcoholic beverage which Gregory said was not hers. The deputy then searched her purse and found a medicine bottle in the right side zipper pocket. He then told the officer — who was assisting in the search — what he found. The officer opened the bottle and found two rectangular pills marked G3722 and a round white pill marked Mylan 457. The report states the bottle was for a prescription for Gregory but the pills that were supposed to be inside weren’t. The officer asked Gregory where that medication was and she said someone had stolen it.
The officer then called Wallace Thomson Hospital and asked a nurse to help him identify the pills in the bottle. The nurse told him the rectangular pills were Xanax and the white pill Ativan. The officer asked Gregory if she had a prescription for those medicatons and she said no. He asked how they got in the bottle and she said a friend put them there.
Gregory was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to jail.
Incidents
The following incidents are being investigated by the public safety department:
TV Stolen
A thief or thieves broke in through the front door of a residence at 121 Hillside Drive, Union, sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and just after midnight Tuesday and stole $2,300 worth of property, including a TV set.
The victim told the responding officer when he returned home he found his front door open. Someone had broken in through the door and stolen his PlayStation II video game set ($300) and a Toshiba 52-inch flat screen TV ($2,000).
Bicycles Stolen
Three bicyles were the target of the thief or thieves who broke into a residence at 303 Lawson Ave., Union, sometime between 2 p.m. Monday and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched to the residence Tuesday afternoon in reference to the larceny of the bicycles. The complainant said when he left the residence the previous day everything was intact. When he returned Tuesday he saw the glass in the front door had been broken out. He entered the residence and found the bicycles were gone. Nothing else was missing from the house.
The complainant told the officer that the previous week he spoke with a group of five or six black males who were looking in the window of the house. He said they asked about the bicycles but he told them not to worry about them and to leave. The man said he didn’t know who they were or where they lived.
Two of the bicycles are blue Beach Cruisers, one of them with a speedometer on it and the other with a basket on the front. The third bicycle is a silver mountain bike. The bicycles have a combined estimated value of $750.
The damage to the door is estimated at $50.
Residence Vandalized
Nothing was stolen but a break-in at a residence at 226 Meansville Road, Union, resulted in $100 worth damage to a storage room door.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched to the residence Tuesday night. The victim told the officer he left his residence around 8 a.m. and when he returned shortly before 9 p.m. he discovered someone had kicked in the storage room door located in his garage.
Nothing was missing from the room or out of place except for the top shelf which was moved approximately three inches from the wall. The report states the suspect shut the door when they left the building.
Arrests
The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:
Sheila Broyles Thomas, 51, 417 S. Broad St., Gastonia, charged Tuesday with defrauding an innkeeper.
Cody Lee Malpass, 20 158 Haney Road, Buffalo, charged Wednesday disorderly conduct.
A 16-year-old charged Wednesday with minor in consumpion of liquor.
