Sardis came in to Monday night’s championship game with their work cut out for them. After the rain postponed Thursday night’s game, Sardis led 7-1 after four innings of play. When play resumed on Monday, Sardis came out flat but still managed to win their fourth consecutive A-league title by defeating West Springs 8-6.
The win gave Sardis its fourth consecutive A-league title.
Trailing 8-2 in the seventh and final inning, West Springs rallied to score four runs before ending the game on a ground out.
In B-League action, Philippi A defeated Morningside 9-6 in Monday night’s championship game. Philippi A had wins over Philippi B, Bethel, and Buffalo Methodist on the road to the championship trophy.
Joy Springs won the sportsmanship award, the league’s most coveted award. The award was voted on by the league’s officials.
