Mr. Rhymer was born in Union, March 16, 1942, a son of the late Morris Rhymer, Sr. and Christine Treadway Rhymer. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Carolina Tire and Appliance. Mr. Rhymer was also later employed with Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.
Surviving are a daughter, Kelly Svagr and husband Keith of Charlotte, NC; a son, Donald Eugene Rhymer, Jr. and wife Kate of La Canada, CA; a brother, Morris “Sonny” Rhymer, Jr. and wife Betty of Greer; five grandchildren, Andrew, Molly, and Carrie Rhymer and Kaitlyn and Kendall Svagr.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Branch. Visitation will be held at the graveside following the service.
The family is at the home of the children's aunt and uncle: Pam and Sam Phipps, 212 N. Mountain St., Union.
