Buffalo native Hunter Parks could see the trophy’s glimmering shine in his Union County residence as he challenged leader Will Watson of Evans, Georgia.
Parks’ final round of 74 would prove to be enough to win the second annual Clemson University Junior Shootout boys 13-15 division held July 26-27 with a two round total of 150. The event was hosted by the Walker Course at Clemson University.
Watson put himself atop the leader board after finishing round one with a two over par round of 74. Watson made three birdies in the round and entered the second round two shots ahead of the field. Watson’s closest challenger, Parks, got off to a rough start during Tuesday’s second round but made a strong charge on the back nine to make up the deficit. Parks made four birdies along with five pars on the back nine to vault past Watson on the leader board. Parks led the field over the tournament scoring par or better on 72.2% of the holes. Parks’ two round total of 150 earned him first place. Watson finished second with a two round total score of 153.
Hunter Parks is the son of George and Sheila Parks of Buffalo.
