It was an encouraging site to see every bleacher space filled at this year’s Dixie Belles state tournament championship game held at Timken Sports Complex. The Union fan base gave our team the true home field advantage they needed to take care of business in the final inning to defeat Lancatster 2-1 and earn a spot in the World Series.

Now, it’s time for the girls to take their talents from Union and showcase them on the league’s biggest stage - the 2010 Dixie Belles World Series. As the girls take the field this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Pineville, Louisiana the bleachers will not likely resemble the fan base seen at last week’s tournament in Union.

The almost 800-mile trip to Louisiana is too long for many Union County residents, but the need to support the team is more important than ever. However, we can support them by staying updated and rooting them on from Union County.

This is a chance to see the current and future champions of our town. It’s easier now than ever to support the girls despite the 15-hour drive that separates our home field from Louisiana’s home field.

Wouldn’t you like to be the first to know that the Union Belles won the World Series?

You can by visiting www.uniondailytimes.com for the latest coverage. We will be posting pictures from the tournament along with inning-by-inning updates on our Web site. Be sure to catch all the latest breaking news.
