Final preparations are under way as the Union Belles will represent Union and the state of South Carolina in the 2010 Dixie Belles World Series held in Pineville, Louisiana July 31st - Aug. 4. The Union Belles will play this Saturday against Louisiana at 11 a.m.

The team will practice two more times in Union before taking their talents on a 12-hour bus ride to Louisiana. The public is invited to City Park to watch their final practices tonight and Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. There will also be a table set-up for any one looking to make a donation for their trip. All donations are welcomed and appreciated, especially items such as bottled water and Gatorade.

Belles’ assistant coach Jerry Foster knows what it is like to play on the big stage.

“I played on a World Series team that was one game away from winning it all, I’ll never forget that. We want this to be memorable for the girls, too. This is something positive for people to talk about in Union.”
