UNION, SC — Mrs. Annie Ruth Epps Hamilton, 81, widow of Richard Hamilton, 182 Parlee Epps Road, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at her residence.

Born May 23, 1929, Mrs. Hamilton was the daughter of the late Parlee and Luella Jeter Epps. She attended the Public Schools of Union County and was a dedicated member of Thomas Chapel AME Church. At Thomas Chapel, she served in the following capacities; Church Secretary, Steward, Stewardess, Sunday School Superintendent/Teacher, Women’s Aid Society, Women’s Missionary Society, F.C.L. Club, Catechism teacher, and Food Committee. She also served as Treasurer for the Newberry-Spartanburg AME District Women’s Missionary Society.

Surviving are two sisters, Ethel Hamilton and Susie Mae McMorris, both of Santuc, SC; one brother, Parlee (Barbara) Epps, Jr of Santuc, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be held, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from noon-6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home.

The Gibson & Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
