UNION, SC — Mr. Robert Carlton Puckett, 86, 2311 Jonesville Hwy., loving and devoted husband of Barbara Ford Puckett of 63 years, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 28, 2010.

Mr. Puckett was born in Union, May 13, 1924 a son of the late John Alford Puckett and Minnie Callahan Puckett. He was a craftsman by trade, having worked in construction. He retired from the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind in 1990 and served on the board of the Bonham Fire Dept. for many years.

Mr. Puckett was a veteran of the US Navy having served aboard the USS Texas during WWII. He was a faithful member of Fairforest Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee for a number of years. He and his wife Barbara started the Young at Heart Group of the church.

Mr. Puckett loved his Lord, his family, his church, his country, his neighbors and was devoted to all of them.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Susan P. Hart and husband CT, and Patti LeMaster and husband Harold, all of Union; a brother, Donald Puckett and wife Mae of Union; a sister, Betty Tollison and husband Lynn of Fort Mill; a sister-in-law, Allene Ford Crocker and husband Forrest of Union; five grandchildren, Tommy Hart and wife Wendy, David Hart, Alicia Palmer and husband Jesse, Clair Doar and husband John, and Greta Fuller and husband Stuart; 13 great-grandchilden; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Puckett was predeceased by a sister Mattie Laura Owens.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Allen Gregory, Rev. Stuart Fuller and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Hart, David Hart, John Doar, Stuart Fuller, Jesse Palmer, Justin Hart, Jordan Hart and Nicholas Hart.

The following are asked to assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. to form the honorary escort: members of the Young at Heart of Fairforest Baptist Church, the staff of Hospice of Tri-County-Union Office, Crystal Earls and the staff of CVS Pharmacy Boyce St., T.G. Daniels, Jr., Everette Hill, Mickey Gist, Don Hyder, Gary and Martha Lindner, Harvey and Bobbie Jean Belue, Jeannette Pharr, Jimmy and Mary Jo Sherbert, Paul and Becky Sanders, Steve and Tavia Rigdon, Frank Garner, Dr. Coy Eaton and Dianne Bush.

Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Boyce St., Union, SC , 29379.

The family will be at the home, 2311 Jonesville Hwy., Union.
