Mr. Lawson was born in Spartanburg April 19, 1928, a son of the late Larry and Marie Simmons Lawson. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lawson retired from Enoree Mills where he worked as a technician.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Nancy Kaye Lawson of Buffalo; four sons, Robert E. Lawson and wife Wanda, Jerry R. Lawson and wife Patty, Terry M. Lawson and wife Pam all of Buffalo, and Stanley E. Lawson of the home; eight grandchildren, Dawn Sprouse, Michael and wife Crystal, Crystal, Travis, Patrick, Brandy, Brad and wife Tracey, Mark and wife April Lawson; 13 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Devin, Candace, Kevin Sprouse, and Rachel, Cheynnee, Allie, Harley, Kaden, Caylee, Braine Lawson, Kathleen and Jasmine Robinson; two sisters, Iris Mae Lawson and husband Bobby Joe and Clorise Duncan, both of Buffalo.
Mr. Lawson was predeceased by two daughters, Betty Sue and Sandra Denise Lawson; one grandchild, Candness Lawson; one great-grandchild Timothy Mark Lawson, Jr.; two sisters, Kate Nelson and Mearle Summer; three brothers, Melvin, Joe and Earl Lawson.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 with military honors at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Guy Langston and Rev. Jimmie Farmer. Burial will be the church cemetery.
Mr. Lawson's grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Marvin Emory, Brodus Walthrop and Ed Griffin. The staff of Hospice of South Carolina, Union Unit are asked to sit in a group.
The family will be at the home where they will receive friends after 2 p.m. Thursday, 2320 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
