UNION, SC — Mrs. Helen McAbee Proctor, 88, a longtime resident of Union, widow of Eugene Proctor passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at Oakmont Residential Center.

Mrs. Proctor was born in Spartanburg County, SC Feb. 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Roland McAbee and Lois Brown McAbee. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and a faithful member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Mrs. Proctor retired in 1983 from Milliken & Co. Monarch Plant.

Mrs. Proctor is survived by two sons, Dr. Edward Proctor and his wife Joyce of Duluth, GA and Kenneth Proctor and his wife Tonya of Union; a daughter, Deborah Scott of Myrtle Beach; a step-daughter, Louise Lever of West Columbia; a sister, Lula Brashears of Campobello; four grandchildren: Hailey Proctor of Charlottesville, VA, Blaine Scott of Korea, Chris Scott of Greenville and Dave Proctor of Union and four step-grandchildren, Susan Van Koevering, Mary Frances Thimmesh, Deany Fisher and Danny Fisher, all of West Columbia.

Mrs. Proctor was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Scott, Dave Proctor, Chris Scott, Bennie Brashears, Carrol Alexander, Jr, Bill Mabry and Sam Kerhulas. The staff of Oakmont Residential and Nursing Center along with employees of Heartland Hospice are asked to assemble at the church 10:15 AM Thursday morning to form the honorary escort.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of her son, Kenneth and Tonya Proctor, 189 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union.
