Sunday, June 1, is my day off, but I will be at the shop from noon until 3 p.m., for free books to give away.
If you thought you saw all I had the last time, just wait, I’m pulling all the books from the back room out for you to go through. I was saving them for a new batch of books for my shelves, but changed my mind. Some of my friends have passed away and I inherited their books, so now I want to share them with all of you readers out there.
Nora Roberts, Janet Daily, Diane Palmer, historical romance, modern, mystery, I even found a box of westerns. FREE!! We all love free stuff. Please don’t make me throw books away. I know this is short notice, but I just noticed the date, June 1, Sunday.
Please, I’m at 411 Lockhart Drive, there is a sign on my porch that says Connie’s Styling Salon, 12-3.
Special Prayer Request
I have special prayer request for my friend, Brenda Jenkins’ dog Tilly. She’s a very sick little girl and Brenda and Ailene had to take her to Charlotte for ultrasounds this a.m. after spending the night at Lowry’s Animal Hospital. I hope they can fix what is wrong. thank you.
Poor Man’s Supper
Don’t forget that Wesley Chapel Methodist Church will be having a Poor Man’s Supper on June 4 at 5:30 p.m. They will be serving spaghetti and sauce, salad, toast and tea. Dessert is extra. Mr Shon Morris will be singing. Everyone is welcome to come.
Minister And Wife
Rev. Delos and Nancy Blanton have become the official minister and wife of the Lockhart Baptist Church. I know the congregation is super pleased with having them.
On June 8, the Lockhart Baptist Church will be giving a bridal shower from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall for my friends, Charlene Setzer and Dennis Broome. Yeah!!
I see my little friend, Jaxon Parker, won 1st place for speed in the Cubbies, Sparks division for the Awana Grand Prix race, at the First Baptist Church in Lockhart. Jaxon comes into my shop and collects cans, and entertains us with what’s going on in his life. He will be going into the 1st grade.
Friday was a good day to live 12 miles from Union. The hail missed us, this time. The damage it did to everyone’s vehicles was terrible. I heard they had to shut Walmart, because it broke out the skylights. And all the cars in the parking lot had busted windows. I saw one car today with the dents and it looked like you threw golf balls at it at close range as hard as you could. It just came out of nowhere.
Happy Birthday to Jennifer Clayton and Matt Etling on the 2nd of June. On the 3rd are Julie Comer, Todd Palmer, Hugh Gregory, and Calee Childers. The 4th, Caroline Lybrand and Samantha Thomason. Happy Anniversary to Betty and Bobby Melton on the 1st of June. On the 7th, Tony and Tonya McLeod.
Jeff and Jack Bailey will be opening Bailey’s Grill on the 2nd week of June dine in or carry out, barbeque and hash.
Don’t forget to come to Barry’s Flea Market Friday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Lockhart-Jonesville Hwy (#9) at Red Walker’s Store. and next door to Brushy Creek guns and ammo store, owned by Charlie Conrad.
If you weren’t out in our area last weekend you really missed a lot of bargains. Hwy #9 had yard sales from the Claytons, Hwy #105 and Hwy #9, the flea market, Denton’s Gas, and Heather’s, this was a great way to start your Memorial weekend out.
A fellow nurse at my hospital received a call from an anxious woman.
“I’m a diabetic and I’m afraid I’ve had too much sugar today,” she said.
“Are you light headed?” the nurse asked.
“No, I’m a brunette.”
A blonde was settling into a first-class seat for a flight to Los Angeles when the flight attendant asked to see her ticket.
“Ma’am, you can’t sit here,” the attendant explained. “You have a coach ticket.”
“I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, and I’m going to Los Angeles first-class,” the blond passenger declared.
So the flight attendant went to get her supervisor, who explained, “I’m sorry, but you’ll have to move to coach because you don’t have a first-class ticket.” “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, and I’m going to Los Angeles first-class,” repeated the gorgeous young blonde.
The two attendants went to the cockpit and told the captain. He came back and whispered something to the blonde. She jumped up and quickly took a seat in the coach section. Astounded, the flight attendants asked the captain what he had said.
“I told her that first class wasn’t going to Los Angeles,” he replied.
