UNION COUNTY — Union County High School hosted a successful “Alumni Night” during the Yellow Jackets football team’s first official spring practice.

Coach Steve Taneyhill said he was pleased with the way Alumni Day turned out, with 72 former players and/or coaches in attendance, highlighted by state champions from all schools represented (Jonesville, Lockhart, Sims, Union and Union County high schools) as well as former Yellow Jackets coaches Shell Dula and Mike Anthony.

The current Union County Yellow Jackets scrimmaged for over an hour and a half, followed by the team being joined by all former players to hear Coach Anthony and Coach Dula speak. Anthony talked to those in attendance with the theme “tradition never graduates,” and Dula’s message was that everyone on the team must “know their role on the team for the team to succeed.”

“All in all it was a great day and further pushed our message that ‘We are one,’” Taneyhill said.
