Library Blog: The Friends of the Library staying very busy

From time to time, I like to use this column to thank the UCCL Friends of the Library for all they do.

While Friends of Library’s week is not for quite a while, the Friends do currently have a very busy few weeks coming up. From Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3, the Friends will host their annual book sale at the Lions Club building on Main St. The sale will be open from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

Several weeks later, on May 15 at 10 a.m., the Friends will be hosting a Bridge and Brunch Benefit in the Fellowship Hall at Grace Methodist. This is a program the Friends have done in the past and are planning to once again make an annual event. Tickets can purchased at the library through May 13 and are $15 for brunch and bridge or $8 for brunch only.

Both of these events go to support the Friends of the Library, who in turns uses the money to support the library. Recent purchases by the Friends for the library include items for library programs, cost of some library repairs, and an update to the library’s microfilm collection.
