UNION COUNTY — The Union County tennis team (7-3, 2-2) lost a tough match to an experienced Broome team last week.

The final score of the match was 4-2 in favor of Broome.

“I knew it was going to be a close match,” said Yellow Jackets Coach Tom Adamo. “They returned all their starters from last year, but I know we can do better.”

Union’s No. 1 and No. 2 singles Matt Haney and Andrew Adamo won in straight sets, while the remaining players lost in straight sets.

“If we could have squeezed out one more win down the line, then I felt we would’ve won the No. 1 doubles,” Adamo said. “We would’ve liked to finished this stretch with a win, but a much needed spring break is welcomed.”

The team starts back April 14 at Newberry, followed by three straight home matches.
