Lady Tigers defeat Fairforest 30-26

UNION — The Sims Lady Tigers picked up their first road win for the season over Fairforest on Thursday.

The Sims Middle School girls basketball team defeated Fairforest Middle School — with a final score of 30-26 — in what Coach Wallace Clayton referred to as a hard fought game.

“This was a great game with Sims edging the win out at the end,” Clayton said.

Sims’ Katelyn Petty led her team in scoring with nine points, and she also had six rebounds and six steals. Zykeria Sumter scored six points; Abbie Valentine scored five points; Shamya Rice and Makayla Hill each scored four points; and Nubi Wilson scored two points. Shayla Trammell had six rebounds. Alexis Jones had six steals and five assists.

The Lady Tigers will host Dawkins Middle School at 5 p.m. Monday and McCracken at 5 p.m. Thursday.
