UNION — According to those who were in attendance, fund raising teams displayed enthusiasm which was contagious during this week’s Union County Relay for Life Team Captains meeting.
Union County Relay for Life held its first Team Captains meeting for 2014 Tuesday evening, with 18 of this year’s 27 registered teams represented.
“The enthusiasm displayed by the team captains was catching, and everyone walked away excited about researching our fund raising goals and having a great event on May 9,” said Torance Inman, vice chair for the event.
Team captains shared some of the things they had already accomplished, as well as fund raising events they have scheduled leading up to the relay. Several of the teams reported they are already close to their fund raising goals, and they are excited about exceeding them.
Inman announced that this year’s event will bring back “Team Talent” as part of the entertainment for the night of the relay.
“We had a great meeting with 18 teams present, we have 27 teams fund raising for this year,” Inman said. “We are always looking for more teams to join our efforts. To add to the fun and festive atmosphere of the relay, each team will perform some type of team/group talent.”
Inman said “Team Talent” is for the not-so-talented talent and will keep everyone laughing until the morning light.
Teams were encouraged to continue to grow their membership and recruit more cancer survivors. Inman said there is still time to join a team, or even start a team. Anyone who would like to join or start a team may call Torance Inman at (864) 426-0883 or Beth Lancaster at (864) 426-3438.
