Sims Middle School
The Sims Middle School basketball team lost a close one to Granard on Monday with a final score of 54-53.
“Coaching is seeing your team play up to and maybe even beyond their abilities,” said Sims Coach Darryl Phillips. “This is what I witnessed at Granard.”
Phillips said Sims led most of the game but missed free throws, which cost them in the end.
“I’m proud of our team for the effort they gave,” Phillips said.
Phillips said Quadrik Smith had a big game in terms of scoring and rebounding, and he delivered 21 points. He also said Tyus Savage also played well, earning 16 points.
“Desman Kershaw fouled out with 9 points, showing me that he can play inside with the big boys,” Phillips added.
Kenneth Tucker, Jr. scored three points, and Malik Porter and Caleb Vanderford each scored two points.
“All I want for Christmas — and the rest of the season — is for my team to grow up to be great men … and my voice to last,” Phillips said.
Lockhart Middle School
