CLINTON — Two former Union County Yellow Jacket football players played on opposing teams Saturday.

The Gardner Webb University Runnin’ Bulldogs defeated the Presbyterian Blue Hose with a final score of 20-13 in Clinton, and each team included a former Union County Yellow Jacket.

Gardner Webb’s freshman WR Kalay Jones was part of the UCHS Class of 2013. During the 2012 season, Jones was rated as a two-star prospect by Scout.com, was a team captain, and earned both All-Region and All-State honors. Also as a high school senior, Jones caught 68 passes for 1,194 yards and 12 touchdowns. Jones also earned honors in high school track and field, and he won the Region III-3A title in the triple jump in 2012.

Presbyterian College’s redshirt sophomore full back John Simmons Fallaw is also a former Yellow Jacket. At PC, Fallaw lettered in football in 2012 and 2013, and he was awarded the sophomore scholastic honor for the highest GPA. Fallaw has been on the dean’s list for all four of his semesters at PC, and he has been on the president’s honor roll for the Big South Conference for both his freshman and sophomore years.
