Thanks for making Halloween Downtown a success

November 9, 2013

To the editor:

We want to thank the downtown businesses, local industries, churches and others who made the Halloween Downtown a great fun safe event for the children. Thanks to the Union County Recreation Department, the Union County YMCA, Union County High School Interact Club, the Union County Arts Council, and Miss Elaine’s Dance studio there was lots of entertainment and fun and games for the children. The Union Public Safety Department did an outstanding job in making sure the streets were secured and safe for everyone. I encourage everyone to offer a thank you to the City of Union and the others who did a great job for the children.

It was very enjoyable to see the children all dressed up and having a good time. The parents also got in the spirit and went all out with their costumes. It was a sight to see.

The most impressive part of the entire event was the children and their behavior. Every “Trick or Treat” was followed by a “Thank You” and a smile. The children and their parents were appreciative and expressed their appreciation as they went up and down the Main Street.

We had a number of people, not from Union, who happened to be on Main Street during the event that made nice comments about was happening. One said, “I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t know any other town that does this. This is great.”

Again, thanks to everyone.
