UNION — Trick-or-treaters came out in huge numbers in the City of Union yesterday for Halloween Downtown and Candy Fest.
Union County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Torance Inman estimated around 1,200 trick-or-treaters attended Halloween Downtown festivities on Thursday. Children lined both sides of Union’s Main Street as they collected candy from numerous downtown merchants. Games were also set up on the Union County Courthouse lawn, as well as at the Union County Annex (set up by Union County YMCA).
Following two hours of candy collecting in costume on Main Street, Halloween fun migrated to the parking lot of Union County Stadium, where Fairforest Baptist Church held its annual Candy Fest. Church members filled the trunks of their cars with candy to hand out, and other car trunks were filled with toys. There were even cars with free coffee for adults. Other festivities included face painting and door prizes.
