UNION — The approach of winter weather will temporarily bring an end to a local church’s outdoor giveaway of clothing but will not prevent it from continuing its outreach ministry to the needy of the community.

Rosena Bell, director of Life Changing Ministries’ Outreach Ministry, announced Tuesday that the church will hold its latest clothing giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m.-noon. She said the giveaway, which will be held in the church yard at 501 Hart St., Union, will feature winter clothing for men, women and children, pocketbooks and shoes.

Bell said this will be the last outdoor giveaway the church holds this year.

“This will be the last we do in the yard this year because of the weather is getting colder,” Bell said. “That’s also why we moved time it start to later in the day because is so cold early in the morning.”

Even though this will be the last outdoor giveaway until the arrival of warmer weather, Bell said the church will continue its outreach ministry, providing clothing to the needy.

“Our ministry is open year-round,” Bell said. “Anyone who needs clothing can contact me or any other church member and we will help them.”

Bell said that in addition to its giveaways, the church also provides clothing to individuals and families who have lost their homes to fire. She said the church also sends clothing to local nursing homes and to a soup kitchen in Spartanburg.

The church’s ministry has also helped provide furniture to people in need.

Life Changing Ministries was founded 14 years ago and has since conducted its outreach ministry, the last five with Bell as director. The church was founded by Pastor John Henderson.
