UNION COUNTY — Some of those who participated in Tuesday’s recruiting event at the SCWorks Union office could soon find themselves working for an automotive parts manufacturer.
Wade’s Employment Agency held the recruiting event on behalf of the Gestamp Automocion South Carolina LLC manufacturing facility in Bonham. The agency is looking to fill the following positions at Gestamp:
• Assembly PED Operators
• Assembly Operators
• Press Operators
• Forklift Operators
The positions start at $10 an hour and those who are hired initially work for Wade’s but have the opportunity to be hired directly by Gestamp after 90 days.
Janice Maness, Onsite HR at Gestamp for Wade’s, said that approximately 40 people applied during the recruiting event and she believes some of them will be scheduled for interviews with Gestamp.
“We’ll probably be able to set up some up for interviews with Gestamp for forklift drivers,” Maness said. “We’ll also probably be able to set up interviews for press and assembly operators.”
Maness also announced that SCWorks is in the process of arranging for Wade’s to hold a recruiting event for Gestamp in Spartanburg on Tuesday, Oct. 15. She said anyone interested in participating in the recruiting event in Spartanburg should contact Wade’s Employment Agency at 427-4515 or 427-1212.
