UNION — Hospice Care of South Carolina (HCSC) hosted its annual Celebration of Life Ceremony on Aug. 29 at the Church of God in Union.
HCSC Community Relations Liaison Penny Adamo said the afternoon event was a special one.
“It’s a way for us to celebrate the lives of the patients we lost this year — with their families,” Adamo said. “The families get to spend time in remembrance of their loved ones with the people who cared for them.”
The ceremony included prayer by Vernon Thornhill and musical performances by Amanda Knowles and Sherry Burnett.
Patients’ names were read by HCSC employees Pam Phipps, Kristin Davis and Gwen Ivey, and families of patients wrote and shared special messages regarding their loved ones.
The event concluded with a balloon release by staff and patients’ families, followed by a closing prayer.
