The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:
— Denver Wallace Harris, 34, of 726 Rice Avenue, Union, was charged with possession of a controlled substance around 10:35 a.m. Aug. 31. According to the incident report, a South Carolina Highway Patrolman asked Harris what he had in his mouth, and a deputy noticed he was chewing something and attempting to swallow it. The deputy grabbed Harris so he could not swallow what was in his mouth. Harris then spit out two round blue pills along with several chewed up pills. A pill bottle — with someone else’s name on it — containing two clonazepam pills was also taken from Harris.
— Calaab Heath Kirby, 24, of 805 Cherry Laurel, Fayettville, N.C., was charged with second-degree assault and battery and driving under the influence around 5:35 a.m. Aug. 31. According to the incident report, officers responded to Old English Road, Union, in reference to “a truck trying to run over a white female.” When officers arrived, they observed Kirby fighting with another man, and they refused to stop. Both men were sprayed with OC spray and complied.
— Brandon Kyle Clarke, 26, of 107 North 3rd Street, Lockhart, was charged with possession of marijuana around 2:40 a.m. Sept. 2. According to the incident report, a deputy received a tip about drug activity at the address and went to the location to speak with the occupants. The report states the officer knocked on the door, and the door came open. The officer observed from outside that Clarke was asleep in a recliner with a glass pipe and bag of green, leafy substance beside him. The leafy substance weighed 1.7 grams.
— Brandon Alan Turner, 27, and Michael Cleveland Trantham, both of 131 Lukesville Road, Buffalo, were each charged with breach of peace around 10:45 a.m. Sept. 1.
— Joe Curtis Davis, 50, of 1031 Maybinton Road, Whitmire, was charged with trespassing around 8:10 a.m. Aug. 30.
— Patricia Hicks Vaughan, 47, of 644 Philippi Church Road, Union, was charged with driving under suspension and unsafe vehicle around 6:10 p.m. Aug. 30. According to the incident report, an officer realized Vaughan was driving under suspension because he had stopped her approximately two months prior. The right brake light on the vehicle was out.
— Dorothy Anne Venning, 62, of 56 Qual Point, Spartanburg, was charged with trespassing around 10 p.m. Sept. 2.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
— The owner of a residence on Whitmire Highway, Union, reported on Aug. 30 that someone attempted to steal an air conditioning unit from the residence. Although the theft was unsuccessful, the metal and insulation around the unit was dented and cracked. A metal pipe and an older A/C unit — estimated at a $100 value — were taken. Tracks in the ground and a piece of found plastic led the complainant to believe the items were taken using a lawn mower.
— A resident of Fairmont Street, Union, reported on Sept. 2 that his residence was burglarized while he was away between 6-11 p.m. He said his back door was unlocked when he returned, and items missing included a Nintendo Wii, five games and a 40-inch Sony television. Missing items were valued at a total of $950.
— A Jonesville resident reported that two 45-foot box trailers were taken from U.S. 176 in Jonesville between Aug. 28-30. The trailers are estimated at a value of $2,000 each.
— A Georgia resident reported on Sept. 2 that a bronze vase was stolen off her father’s grave at Union Memorial Gardens, located at 1720 Whitmire Highway, Union. The complainant stated the vase was still there two months prior. The vase was valued at $300.
— A resident of Linersville Road, Buffalo, reported on Sept. 2 that two bicycles were stolen from her back porch. The complainant stated the bikes were there around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 and became missing on Sept. 2. The bikes were valued at a total of $210.
— A resident of Turner Avenue, Union, reported on Sept. 1 that her vehicle had been scratched and a window on her house was broken. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $3,000, and the window was estimated at $50.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:
— Denver Wallace Harris, 34, of 726 Rice Avenue, Union, was charged with two counts of petit larceny and use of vehicle without owner’s consent around 10:40 a.m. Aug. 31. According to arrest warrants, Harris took a green pocketbook and 75 Klonopin pills from a woman. Warrants also state Harris took the woman’s vehicle from Buena Vista II apartments without her permission.
— Jimmy Arthur Rhinehart, Jr., 44, of 101 Toluca St., Union, was charged with criminal domestic violence around 7:40 p.m. Aug. 31. According to the arrest warrant, Rhinehart engaged in a physical altercation with a woman, causing swelling and bruising to her right ear.
— Thomas Worthy, 55, of 104 Chambers Avenue, Union, was charged with trespassing around 12:59 a.m. Aug. 31.
— Charles Nathan Crosby, 55, of 111 Lybrand St., Union, was charged with trespassing around 10:26 p.m. Aug. 30.
— Kelvin Andwan Hall, 28, of 153 Johnson Road, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 4:45 a.m. Sept. 1.
— James Earl Mobley, 21, of 207 E. Henrietta St., Union, was charged with trespassing after notice around 11:10 a.m. Aug. 31.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:
— The owner of a residence on 3rd Avenue, Union, reported on Sept. 1 that the vacant residence had been burglarized, and the only thing missing was a Dell computer. The computer was valued at $600. The case was turned over to investigations.
