Voice Of Victory: Still waters

August 11, 2013

Isn’t it nice when we have a time when everything slows down and we can enjoy a brief time of relaxation, peace, and serenity? I sometimes think that the theme for 2013 should be “Life in the Fast Lane.” With all the advancements in electronics you would think it would allow us a chance to slow down and free some of our time up, but it surely seems that everywhere I look people’s lives are in high gear and we are constantly pushing ourselves to do more and at a faster pace.

I often think of our days as a vessel out on life’s seas. For the child of God we have a Heavenly GPS that guides us in the right direction. But we are never promised a smooth ride to our Heavenly home. The truth is we all face rough times as we go through life. If everything was smooth sailing we wouldn’t truly appreciate those moments, albeit few, of calmness. When you have been through hardships and the waters of life seemingly were raging and tossed you about to and fro, you constantly had to be looking for danger and you felt as if you were going to sink from the storms of life. That is when you value these times of calmness. Well I’m glad God has a place of rest and provision.

In Psalm 23, the psalmist says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” What a loving Lord we have! He watches us, protects us, provides for us, and makes us enjoy his “still waters.” It won’t always be a life of calmness and stillness but we can enjoy these times when our wonderful Lord leads us by his still waters. Until next time God bless.
